Jason Kolosky, P.Eng.
As a long time Peace Country resident Jason began his career operating farm and heavy equipment for his family business near Spirit River. He then operated steam, hydro-vac and picker trucks. Jason started operating oil and gas wells as a contract operator with Sundance Ventures developing his applied background and understanding of the oil and gas industry prior to university. Jason worked at Aztec Engineering (Formerly Fimrite Engineers), AGTL on a pipeline directional drill project, and Bantrel on an upgrade of the Crude-Vac and Coker Tower at the Petro-Canada Refinery in Edmonton. He also worked at the BA Energy Upgrader in Fort Saskatchewan and at the Albian Sands Mine for Bird Construction.
Jason returned to Aztec Engineering to work with mentor Jason Fimrite as a Project Engineer and Construction Manager. In 2009 Jason Kolosky and Tex Fimrite purchased Aztec Engineering. Since becoming an owner, Jason has worked to secure the presence of the Grande Prairie based engineering firm by engaging growing clients and expanding the role of engineering services offered locally to the region. Jason is focused on advancing the technical expertise of Aztec, building long-term careers of his team and supporting all communities that Aztec has operations, including the Alberta and BC Peace Region, Paradise NFLD, Calgary, Lacombe, Edmonton and Dartmouth NS.

Greg Anderson, P.Eng.
Greg joined the Aztec management team as a Partner in 2013. He started his career in the oil and gas industry in construction with experience in industrial concrete, asphalt and road construction. He worked as an operator at a sour gas plant in Northern Alberta then as a Facilities Engineer in Fort McMurray at the Albian Sands Mine. He was a field engineer for three heavy oil facilities in Northern Alberta for Shell Canada. He then spent three years as the General Manager of Ritchie Bros. Construction building a division of the oilfield road and lease construction company in Grande Prairie.
With a background in operations and construction Greg has a very hands-on and practical approach to engineering providing fit for purpose engineered solutions. Greg’s focus as a manager is in quality recruitment and employee retention. He sees the current Canadian labor shortage as an opportunity for a competitive advantage with employee retention as a priority.

Tex Fimrite
Tex began working for Aztec as a Field Consultant in 1997 and was appointed Manager of field operations in 2006. He has over 30 years of experience consulting and installing oil and gas facilities and pipelines. His experience includes pipeline & facility construction supervision, pre-planning of proposed well sites, access roads, reclamation and remediation, operation and maintenance of single well battery sites, gas compressors and gas sweetening systems. Tex has a positive personality and experience that often allows him to analyze and deal with project issues, landowner, first nation and other stakeholder concerns swiftly with a reasonable outcome for all parties. He also has great business experience in the oil and gas industry that strengthens the Aztec Engineering management team.
Tex is a certified pipeline & facility inspector and currently holds all required safety tickets. Tex enjoys being part of his community in Saddle Hills. He served as Councillor for the Saddle Hills area and was a recipient of the Councillor of Excellence award in 1992. He was an executive member of the South Peace Regional Planning Commission for two years and served on the Development Appeal Board for 3 years. He was also the founding member of the Peace Valley Conservation & Recreation Committee and the Savanna Agricultural Society. He served as a coach and sponsor of the Savanna Minor Hockey league for 10 years. Since becoming an owner at Aztec, Tex has worked to build the local team to be an industry leader in construction management. Tex is also committed to ensuring that Aztec Engineers and Technologists are aware of the challenges faces during fabrication and apply a constructability concept to Aztec designs and project management.
Kari Anderson, P.Eng., FEC, FGC (Hon)
Kari joined Aztec in 2013 as an engineering consultant. Kari has a degree with Distinction in Chemical Engineering and her 4th Class Power Engineering Certification. She spent her early career working as a compressor operator and operations engineer at oil and gas facilities in Northern Alberta. Her 4 years at Shell Canada led her to train and lead the process safety team, which eventually led to over 15 years as a contract HAZOP facilitator in upstream energy facilities and pipelines. Using the knowledge gained from working close with construction, operations, electrical, instrumentation, and programmers, Kari diversified her design skills into automation and control systems where she currently specializes. As an active volunteer member of APEGA, she has spent 10+ years on the regional branch executive and is currently serving on council.

Curtis Nelson, P.Eng.
Curtis joined Aztec in 2016 and became a partner in 2018. Early in his career he did field supervision / technical sales for Precision Wireline and Tucker Energy Services, and worked as a drilling engineering for Trident Exploration Ltd. In 2009 he began working overseas, with an Iraqi oilfield services company, OiLSERV. There he started with field supervision and later became a well services project manger. He developed programs and coordinated wireline, slickline, coil tubing, stimulation, TCP and well testing services for ENI, BP and ExxonMobil, in Iraq. He later was assigned to work in-house as a project engineer for ExxonMobil in Dubai, UAE.
At Aztec Engineering, Curtis is focused on developing internal processes and project controls. He is extremely grateful for the highly motivated team at Aztec, as their performance and creativity is proportional to the level of value we are able to bring to our clients.

Manuel Weyermann, P.Eng.
Manuel is a Professional Engineer with a diverse skillset who has worked in the industry for over 10 years. He started with Aztec Engineering Inc. in 2014 and signed on as a partner in 2019. He has been the design lead and project manager on many projects during this time. His drive for successful project and inspiring leaders makes him a valuable asset to the team.
Manuel started his career in the Oil and Gas industry as an operator with ConocoPhillips in Central Alberta. The field offered diverse exposure to pumping and flowing sweet and sour oil and gas wells as well as associated compression, produced water disposal, water flood and custom treating facilities.
Manuel then worked in Calgary for Lightstream resources where he mostly focused on the economics of the slave lake tight oil play.
Manuel’s project experience includes process and mechanical engineering design and project management for oil and gas projects including pipelines, gas plants, oil treating facilities, produced water projects and well tie-ins.

Kaylor Klause, P.Eng.
Kaylor joined Aztec in 2014 and became a partner in 2022. He is a Professional Engineer with a diverse skillset, who has worked in the industry for over 10 years. He has been the design lead and project manager on many projects in the oil and gas industry during this time, and his passion for learning and inspiring others makes him a valuable asset.
Kaylor started his career in the Oil and Gas industry as an operator with Pengrowth at the Judy Creek Gas Plant near Whitecourt, Alberta. He then worked in Edmonton for Enbridge Pipelines in a project management role, and then for CNRL as both an operator in the Spirit River area and an Exploitation Engineer in Calgary. This experience provided exposure to many areas including gas/liquid processing, pad production, field gathering systems, EOR schemes, and project/development planning.
Kaylor’s project experience includes process and mechanical engineering design and project management for oil and gas facilities varying from large gas plants and infrastructure projects to small MOC projects. Over the last five years Kaylor has overseen several projects associated with produced water management and disposal. More recently, Kaylor has been more involved in operations support, managing several small projects to improve operational efficiency. With his operations background and diverse facility design experience, he can manage and provide design input on projects of any size and complexity.

Erich Pyde, P. Eng.
Erich joined Aztec in 2017 and became a partner in 2023. He is a Professional Engineer with a diverse skillset, who has worked in the industry for over 15 years. He started with Aztec Engineering Inc. after working in drilling and completions as a field engineer for hydraulic fracturing, coiled tubing and cementing. Erich graduated from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2012. He has been the design lead and project manager on many projects specializing in high complexity, fast-paced projects. Erich has led and managed large scale capital projects with Aztec as well as being responsible for large quantities of operations (MOC) projects.

Kyle Monagle, P.Eng.
Kyle joined Aztec in 2018 and became a partner in 2025. He is a Professional Engineer with over 10 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas, construction, and manufacturing industries. Kyle graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since joining Aztec, Kyle has served as a design lead, and project manager for a multitude of (MOC) projects,
while also providing design support for several major capital projects. Since 2023, Kyle has been managing the process engineering team at Aztec, responsible for reviewing simulations and calculations, while leading the development and implementation of process design methodologies.
